A Bit Of History

In 2002, North Nibley Parish Council acquired an area of land in the centre of the village where it developed a permanent Recreation Field facility for the first time in the village’s history.

Since the Recreation Field was opened, the Village has seen its sports clubs develop and strengthen significantly and the location of the facility has also enabled the VillageSchool to make use it.

The only option available to sports clubs for changing facilities was to use part of the existing Village Hall which is situated away from the Playing Field. Using the Village Hall has meant that teams have to walk alongside a busy road to get to the Playing Field and, when there, have no toilets or other on-site facilities. Planning consent has now been obtained to build a Pavilion at the Recreation Field to satisfy this need.

A Charitable Limited Company called ‘North Nibley Recreation Field’ was formed in 2007 to manage the use of the new Recreation Field. This new entity has taken a long lease of the Jubilee Field from the Parish Council giving security of tenure to justify raising the funds required to build this important new facility.

After the achievement of acquiring a permanent Recreation Field, the provision of a Pavilion will arguably be one of the most important new developments in the Village for some time. Even if you aren’t involved with any of the Village sports clubs or the School yourself, the Pavilion may be used by your children or grandchildren in the future and will undoubtedly be a huge benefit to the Village.
