North Nibley Cricket Club Monthly Round-up
North Nibley Cricket Club -
Runners up in "Britain's Best Village Cricket Ground
Competition"
Some time ago the Saturday
Telegraph and the Willow Walks organisation launched a
competition to find "Britain's Best Village Cricket
Grounds". The result was apparently delayed because they were inundated
with entries.
Well, we thought our ground/location was pretty
special so we entered. If you saw last Saturdays Telegraph (Weekend section) you
will know that although we didn't win we were one of 9 runners up. You can read
the story at the following link. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/main.jhtml?xml=/earth/2008/09/13/eawillow113.xml
In the actual paper there were pictures of
several grounds including ours. We are rather pleased with this result
!
Cricket
Having lost a few weeks to cancellations and rain
we finally took to the field yesterday on a rather damp wicket. We forged our
way to a very respectable score of 207 against local rivals Tortworth. With
excellent bowling and some tight fielding Tortworth were bowled out for just 67.
A great result.
Last Game
This coming Sunday sees the seasons last game. This
is against Bob Hunts X1 and starts at 1pm on our Nibley Ground. We are hoping
that the weather stays fair. Do come along if you can - its a very long winter
with no cricket !!
