 Welcome

This meeting followed on after the A.G.M.  It was suggested to set a few diary dates and publish them on the Village Diary as soon as possible, so as to avoid clashes with other organisations.

 Upcoming Events

 ·          School Gate Sale – Friday 26th September:  Donuts (and second hand school uniform).

 ·          Sponsored Sports Event – 23rd October (reserve 24th):  To be held in the afternoon during school hours.  A sponsored circuit-train was suggested, with an inflatable slide at the end.  Mrs Freeman needs to consult with Mrs Dixon for ideas.  Walter can organise the slide; Sarah will organise Sponsor Sheets, Jo will provide posters, and Catherine will do squash and bickies.

MRS F; SP, WE, JP, CL

·          Half Term Event for the children – Halloween 31st October:  Repeating a successful and popular event last year, the party will be held in Becky’s barn at Bassett Court Farm, from 6:00pm – 8:30pm.  Family tickets will once again be priced at £5.00, with individual tickets at £1.50.  Walter offered to sort the booze license and get some Severn Vale beer.  To be discussed further at the next meeting.

·          Christmas Raffle:  Sarah Aston and Helen Brown have kindly volunteered to organise again this year.  Carolyn Timbrell has conveyed her ideas to involve the children in creating some of the prizes;  each Year Group is to be given a colour theme for a Box or Hamper, and children will be asked to make/provide a small gift of their colour to be included in that box.  Helen and Sarah A to be consulted on this.  Other “First Prize” options were discussed, such as a short-break stay at Calcot Manor,

Tortworth Court
, or Bath Spa.  Catherine’s offer of her caravan for a weekend in Walter’s field was unanimously rejected.  Sarah may be able to arrange a tour of Concorde at Filton.

SA, HB

Raffle to be drawn at the School Nativity Play.

·          Christmas Fayre – 28th November:  To be held at Nibley House from 6:00 - 9:00pm.  Sarah has discussed the date with Sue Devine, and the Church is happy there is no clash with this event.  Mrs Freeman will invite Friends from the Village.  Carolyn Timbrell has offered to help organize this event, and Walter advised there is space for around 15 stalls.  Carolyn suggested £15 per stall.  Minced pies, mulled wine and coffee will be served, and the School Choir will sing on the staircase from 7:00pm.  Sarah will ask Theresa Eames to source some Poinsettias.

·          Christmas Puddings:  Following its success in the past 2 years, Julia Buckley offered to take over the enterprise this year, and will get all the details from Jason.

JB

·          Burns Night – 24th January:  Scottish Dance Troops will need to be investigated early as they tend to get booked up pretty quickly for this date.  Jason volunteered Karen Wheeler to find out at Wotton Town Hall about a local troop.  If not, we will Google… or investigate by some other means.  To be discussed further.

 Wish List

Mrs Freeman reported a few small items requested by Class 1 and Class 2.  More indoor games for rainy-day playtimes are also needed.

Pantomime – There will be another visit this year to the theatre in Cheltenham, this is being arranged by Mrs Toddhunter.   We hope there will be a performance in school for the infants again this year too, but this is yet to be organised.
